My little dog, Pip, is recovering from an upset stomach and isn’t feeling as energetic as usual. So I am writing this with her sleeping on the bed beside me. March just flew by, and there are a few reasons for this. Besides my freelance day job and preparing Our Ways Unmasked for a proofread, I’ve had a number of creative projects on the go. One of the collaborations I am quite excited about resulted in a short story featuring a new character who will appear in the 2nd half of the Apidecca Duology. Covers, interiors and character portraits are also in the works. You may see one of these quite soon if you follow my socials (it’ll also be in next month’s blog post).
I’m hoping April will afford me more opportunities to rest. I’ll be away on holiday in Cape Agulhas later in the month for my parents’ wedding anniversary. Hoping that I’ll spot some stingrays while there.
The Secondary Characters of Our Ways Unmasked

There are many more who could be on this list but aren’t (Ilu, Rosh, Teprill, Seron, and Taber). But I thought I’d share some of those characters readers might have forgotten, as well as some new additions. I haven’t revealed the names of the new characters here, but I can’t wait for you to meet them. They consist of villains, supporters, and some knyads who might appear to be both. They were so ready to jump off the page and bring out unexpected reactions in our protagonists. There are more new characters besides the ones depicted here, but to share all of them might spoil things. My hand was also starting to cramp from all the drawing.
Narratess April 11-13

This is where you will find a whole catalogue of discounted quality SFF books: indiebook.sale .
Far Removed has reached many people through Narratess and I am now entering the sale with my novelette, The Tidelings of Dras Sayve, which is finally out of KU and will be available everywhere. Tidelings has been going for 1.99 USD for a while, and I will bring it down to half price for the sale. It’s not a long story, at around 17.5K words or 80 pages, but you get 9 original illustrations inside. The themes and relationships in this little story really impact the way some moments land in Our Ways Unmasked. It felt like a good time to get more eyes on it.
I’ll be back next month with more news, and I want to draw your attention to some other authors’ short stories too.
