One Week On

Mailerlite subscribers will have already seen this message, so please excuse the repetition here. I’m going to share some reflections on my book’s release last week. There are also some things to look forward to in the near future.

Last week, Far Removed had a very memorable release day – for the author, at least. I used to let lots of celebrations pass me by, but I’m old enough to know that a day is only special if I allow it to be. My family and I spent the evening at a restaurant that backs onto the ocean.

Far Removed was published with 7 ARC reviews on Goodreads, averaging at 4.71 stars. Amazon is yet to garner verified reviews (there’s no rush). As a title reaches a wider audience, its average rating naturally goes down, but it was reassuring to have a strong start. From now on, I’m going to bow out of readers’ spaces and allow the numbers to change on their own. I was very pleased that JamReads’ review of Far Removed garnered plenty of attention on 6 September. He gave a very thoughtful breakdown of the plot. Please note, some spoilers are mentioned.

The paperback and hardcover are available on Barnes & Noble and Amazon. I’ve sold a few physical books already.

15 September – Another Noteworthy Day

This Friday, the audiobook of Far Removed will be released on Audible, B&N, Kobo, Google Play, and other platforms. A more sensible author would wait to see if her book is well received before producing an audiobook, but accessibility is important to me and I was in a position to invest in this format, so I took a leap of faith.

My narrators are genuinely lovely people and I can’t recommend them enough. They are Christopher Tester and Amy Jensen (most of Amy’s work on Audible is listed under her pseudonym, Cassandra Alling).

On the 15th, my Kirkus review will also appear in the mid-September issue of the magazine. Unfortunately, when the magazine went to print, they didn’t have my ISBN or ebook price, so the article will look a bit incomplete. This is what happens when you are a one-woman PR team! Still, I am proud of its inclusion.

What’s Next?

Far Removed will be on tour with Escapist Book Co from 28–30 September. And Hidden Gems will also be promoting it around that time. I will be back at the end of the month with some updates on this front. Thank you for joining me on this ride.
