February 2023 – Where did it Go?

I don’t have any pictures to share this month so I hope you don’t mind the red text – it adds some visual interest. I decided to save my monthly newsletter for the weekend because I needed time to process this past week.

Last month I worked through a brief of over 100 illustrations. It was a rush to the finish line on the 28th and I really could have done with a 29 February this year. Administrative tasks and illness also held me up but I’m starting to feel more human again. Normally I don’t like to talk about work and busyness (who isn’t overwhelmed these days?) but sometimes everything catches up with, then overtakes you.

Somehow I still made a little progress with my WIP:

  • I signed a contract with Lantern Audio to produce an audiobook. I can’t wait to get the manuscript to them later in the year and put out a casting call for a narrator.
  • Organised a book tour with Escapist Book Co. for late September.
  • Completed the map for my book interior, along with some flourishes and chapter designs.

Outlook for March:

I will continue work on my novel and the prequel novelette, which will have a word count of around 10k. The novelette will be available free with a subscription to my newsletter around April. Next month I hope to reveal my book cover and set up preorders.

As always, I enjoy hearing from other creatives or SFF readers in the comments or on my Twitter and Instagram profiles.
