While my website is still under construction, I want to share updates on my first science fiction novel, A Moon Apart (working title). I started conceptualising it in 2020 – I’m hardly the only person to have turned to writing for creative relief that year. The story takes place on a habitable moon and features two POV characters from very different backgrounds. I explore themes of identity, loss, and change in my writing.
This month I decided to replace thoughts of ‘if I publish this book,’ with ‘when I publish this book’. You need to approach some things with absolute certainty. I have passed the ¾ mark in editing the 2nd draft, and I have booked a professional sci-fi/ horror editor to help me polish it at the end of this year.
Between now and then, I’d like to share my milestones with you: the next one being the completion of the 2nd draft of the manuscript. That sounds impressive but the 1st draft was really just a bullet-point list of events with bits of dialogue so there is still much ground to cover.
I aim to publish halfway through 2023. This website will continue to grow and change in the months to come. I look forward to revealing the title and graphics that reflect the cover design.
Wishing you all the best in your own creative endeavours.
